Translated headword: extinguished
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning he/she/it] chased away.
Greek Original:
*)/eyuren: a)pedi/wcen.
Notes:
Same entry in the derivative ps.-Zonaras; a comparable one (Adler reports) in the unedited Laurentianus 59.16; and see especially Hesychius epsilon7723, where the present glossing word (with another, a)pe/ptusen) is applied to the lemma e)/yucen. The Suda's e)/yuren, otherwise unattested, is thus surely a mistake.
The authentic headword must be quoted from somewhere, perhaps Josephus (Jewish War 2.331 or 5.472).
Keywords: biography; definition; dialects, grammar, and etymology; ethics; historiography; history; imagery
