Adler number: theta,347
Translated headword: to hunt (?), to pursue (?)
Vetting Status: high

[Meaning] to be delayed.[1]

Greek Original:
*qhrateu/esqai: a)naba/llesqai. kai\ *qhrath\s lo/gwn, a)nti\ tou= e)piqumhth/s.
Notes:
[1] Likewise in ps.-Zonaras. This present middle/passive infinitive is here transmitted as qhrateu/esqai, otherwise unattested, and ignored in LSJ. Photius, Lexicon theta164 Theodoridis has it as qhrasteu/esqai (obelized), Hesychius theta130 as qastreu/esqai, which nineteenth-century scholars identified as a corruption of dhqa\ streu/gesqai ('to be utterly worn out') in Homer, Iliad 15.512.
[2] From the scholia to Aristophanes, Clouds 358, where the phrase qhrata\ lo/gwn occurs. See also theta 346.
