*)/odwden: o)/zei. h(=s kai\ u(p' eu)w/dei tu/mbos o)/dwde kro/kw|. peri\ *lai/+dos o( lo/gos th=s e(tai/ras.
Notes:
[1] Perfect of o)/zw, third person singular, with present sense, glossed with the present tense; cf. omicron 50, omicron 52, omega 30. Same or similar glossing in other lexica (references at Photius omicron47 Theodoridis) and in a scholion on Homer, Odyssey 5.60 (where the pluperfect o)dw/dei occurs).
[2] Greek Anthology 7.218.8 (Antipater of Sidon); epitaph for Lais, the legendary Corinthian hetaera; cf. Gow and Page (vol. I, 19) and (vol. II, 52-3). See further excerpts from this epigram at alpha 1219, alpha 1683, delta 1519, theta 519, theta 588, kappa 751, kappa 1525, kappa 2628, lambda 789, pi 1457, and pi 1903. On Lais, see lambda 40, nu 16, and names of other Corinthian courtesans, akin in practice to modern geishas, at epsilon 3266. The LSJ s.v. (web address 1) identifies kro/kos as domesticated saffron crocus, Crocus sativus; cf. Lindsell (47-54). Gow and Page note that in Antipater's poetic imagery, the scent arises not from flowers upon Lais's tomb, but emanates from kro/kinon mu/ron (sweet crocus oil) on her buried body or poured in tribute upon her grave (vol. II, 53).
