The [verb that means] to change position. From those playing draughts and rectifying [sc. the positions of] pieces that have already been moved.[1] For the word does not mean "to refer" or "to communicate", but to alter one's plans and to repent. It is frequent in the philosopher Plato.[2] Menander in Aphrodisian [writes]: "after escaping the illness which she had, she did not have to take back the words which had been spoken."[3]
