Ὑφορμοῦν: ἀπαντῶν, ἐναντιούμενον.
Likewise in the Synagoge (upsilon211) and Photius' Lexicon (upsilon324 Theodoridis). The headword, presumably quoted from somewhere, is present participle of ὑφορμέω , neuter nominative/accusative singular. Adler reports, however, that ms A has the masculine ὑφορμῶν , and the gender of the two glossing participles, variously, is masculine in some of the mss. See also next note.
[1] ἀπατοῦν 'deceiving' in ms F (and elsewhere).
Keywords: definition; dialects, grammar, and etymology; ethics; imagery
