Notes:
[1] Same or similar glossing in other lexica; references at Photius upsilon125 Theodoridis. The headword -- present indicative active, third person singular, of u(permaza/w -- is evidently quoted from somewhere (and is nowadays, in fact, registered as a contextless fragment of Attic comedy: Comica adespota 546 K.-A.). As is clear from the present entry, the verb has both a literal and a figurative sense.
[2] This quotation -- concerning, as Bernhardy realised, a celebrated episode during the Gallic sack of Rome (cf. Valerius Maximus 7.4.3) -- was attributed by Angelo Mai to Cassius Dio, but Favuzzi [see under alpha 1518] 53 claims it for Aelian; the clue is the adverb au)to/xrhma, a favourite of his.
[3] Quotation (in which Adler, following Kuster, omits kai\ zw=n after u(permazw=n), and individual, unidentifiable. (Adler suggested Eunapius, on no discernible basis.)
