Adjective attested in a variety of late writers and sources. Considering the gloss, the entry was perhaps prompted by Theophylact Simocatta, Histories 7.11.5 (where the accusative is used in a figurative sense), or by one of the several instances in Nonnus.
(The fact that the neuter of the headword, as a substantive, is mentioned by medical writers as a remedy for nosebleeds is hardly relevant here.)
