[Genitive] pele/kews:[1] the carpenter's tool. "And this behandled, weighty chairman of craft, the axe."[2]

Greek Original:
*pe/lekus, pele/kews: to\ tektoniko\n e)rgalei=on. kai\ e)stelewme/nos ou(=tos e)mbriqh\s te/xnas o( pru/tanis pe/lekus. pele/kuos de/.
Notes:
[1] This grammatical point, and the addendum to it below, are marginal additions in ms. V.
[2] Greek Anthology 6.205.5-6 (Leonidas of Tarentum), the retiring carpenter Leontichus dedicates his tools to Athena; cf. Gow and Page (vol. I, 109); (vol. II, 316-319); and other extracts from this epigram at alpha 1748, alpha 3875, epsilon 3419, rho 169, tau 1102, and chi 107. The perfect middle-passive participle e)stelewme/nos (behandled) is evidently the epigrammatist's invention, presumably from the verb steleo/w (I furnish with a handle), and which is not found elsewhere; cf. Gow and Page (vol. II, 318) and LSJ s.v. (web address 1). Blümner (203) illustrates a variety of ancient axe configurations.
[3] This alternative form for the genitive is attested only in late Greek, and mostly in discussions of what the genitive ought to be in contrast to the commonly attested Attic form cited earlier in the entry; cf. Herodian, On the Declension of Nouns 3.2.641.
