Headword: Πάσῃ τέχνῃ
Adler number: pi,753
Translated headword: by all means, by every craft
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] in any way.[1] Aristophanes in Lysistrata [writes]: "if you don't have the time, come by every craft towards evening and fit in the pin for her".
Notes:
Aristophanes, Lysistrata 412-413 (which does not have the Suda's opening negative οὐδ' , a mistake for σὺ δ' : web address 1), with comment from the scholia there. Also in Photius pi466 Theodoridis.
There is double entendre here: in line 410 the balanos was the pin of a necklace, but when the goldsmith makes his house-call he will deploy his balanos = penis (cf. beta 66).
[1] cf. generally pi 751.
