Greek Original:
Προσώχθικε: προσκέκρουκε, προσκέκοφεν. ἀπὸ τοῦ τὰ ἐπινηχόμενα ταῖς ὄχθαις προσκρούεσθαι.
Notes:
The headword is perfect indicative active, third person singular, of προσοχθίζω , and is unattested apart from this entry and the parallel entries cited in n. 1 below. For other forms of the same verb see also pi 2767, pi 2768 and pi 2777.
[1] = Synagoge pi724, Photius pi1393 Theodoridis. (Similar glosses for a different form of the verb are used by Hesychius pi3965.) The etymology offered connects the stem of the verb -οχθ- with the word for the banks of a body of water, ὄχθαι , which is probably incorrect; see Chantraine DELG s.v. ὀχθέω .
