Ἀριστοφάνης: οὐ γὰρ ἔθ' οἷός τ' εἶμ' ὑπερέχειν τῆς ἀντλίας. ἀντὶ τοῦ ἀντέχειν καὶ περιγίνεσθαι τοῦ πράγματος. ἀπὸ μεταφορᾶς τῶν πλοίων, ἅπερ κινδυνεύει τῆς ἀντλίας πληρωθέντα. βούλεται δὲ εἰπεῖν, ὅτι νικῶμαι ὑπὸ τοῦ πράγματος. καὶ αὖθις: σοφοῦ πρὸς ἀνδρός, ὅστις ἐν βραχεῖ πολλοὺς καλῶς οἷός τε συντέμνειν λόγους.
