Headword: Οὐκ οἶδ' κρώζεις
Adler number: omicron,899
Translated headword: I don't know what you are crowing
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Used] in reference to those who babble in vain, like crows. Aristophanes [writes]: "that I know what you are crowing; as if I had stolen something, you seek to get a share."
Notes:
Aristophanes, Wealth [Plutus] 369-370 (web address 1), with scholion. Here in the Suda, however, neither the headword phrase itself nor the subsequent quotation gets the beginning right: it should be σὺ μὲν οἶδ' ὃ κρώζεις "what you are crowing I know."
cf. kappa 2492.
