Headword: *ka)=|t' e)/gwg' e)chgro/mhn
Adler number: kappa,914
Translated headword: and then I woke up
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
Meaning then, after this, I was awakened. In reference to those being deceived. For when Dionysus has proclaimed "I sank[1] 13 ships in the sea-battle,"[2] Herakles[3] adds, "and then I woke up!" Mocking Dionysus, he is saying, "and I rose up from dreams," making clear that a vision in sleep brought about these things. But others say that Dionysus says these things, that this [comes] from those who are repeating falsehoods intentionally, as they are making clear that what is said has resembled a thing seen in sleep.

Notes:
Aristophanes, Frogs 51 (web address 1), with scholion; see already at epsilon 1714. The headword verb is second aorist, middle indicative, of e)cegei/rw; the primary gloss is the corresponding aorist passive.
[1] Adler prints kate/dhsa, from the Suda mss, but notes that it should be kate/dusa.
[2] The Athenian victory at Arginusae (406 BCE); cf. alpha 3778. Also: alpha 3111 note, epsilon 1136 note, delta 234, epsilon 3234, epsilon 3657 note, omicroniota 101.
[3] The attribution of this half-line is uncertain: Herakles, Dionysus (continued), or -- the modern preference -- Xanthias [Dover, p. 196].
