Notes:
[1] For this term see kappa 2124, Hesychius kappa4266.
[2] = Photius, Lexicon kappa1123 Theodoridis (= Aelius Dionysius kappa40 Erbse), ultimately deriving from commentary to Thucydides 1.6.3 (web address 1); cf. scholia ad loc., and to Xenophon, Anabasis 5.4.13, Clement of Alexandria 220.12. See also kappa 2488 (q.v. for further references and links), epsilon 1257, tau 377.
[3] For this sentence, absent from ms V, cf. scholia to Aristophanes, Clouds 10, Etymologicum Magnum 310.53, epsilon 86, phi 28, nu 369. Here the lexicographer presents the accusative form of the headword, though it is unclear from the context whether he is aware of that or conceives of the form as a neuter variant in the nominative.
