[1] Same or similar entry in other lexica; see the references at Photius kappa107 Theodoridis. The headword is the masculine nominative singular, present middle participle, of the verb kalama/w; see also kappa 194, kappa 197. If quoted from somewhere in this form, perhaps from the Septuagint (Ecclesiasticus 33.16); but Hesychius kappa407 has an entry for kalamw/menon, said by Pollux 7.142 to occur in Cratinus (fr. 420 Kock, now 461 K.-A.).
[2] This third person plural, present indicative middle, of the same verb (again kappa 200) is also probably quoted from the Septuagint: see Isaiah 3.12, where its figurative use could bear this gloss.
