Notes:
[1] Likewise or similarly in the Synagoge and other lexica; see the references at Photius kappa755 Theodoridis. As LSJ s.v. notes, κλαγγή is primarily associated in Homer with cranes. See also kappa 1698.
[2] The two nouns are famously used together in Homer, Iliad 3.2 (quoted under epsilon 1390): "the Trojans came on with screeching and crying, like birds" (web address 1) -- surely the passage that has prompted this addition to the entry.
