Masculine accusative singular or neuter nominative/accusative of this adjective (connected with kappa 1509 and kappa 1511). Evidently quoted from somewhere, but attested only in the Suda, the Laurentian lexicon, and the Corpus glossariorum latinorum s.v. maculosus.
The adjective is occasionally used in Modern Greek, mostly in Linnaean names (kalliw/numos khlidwto/s = Callionymus maculatus, spotted dragonet; khlidwto/s tetra/nuxos = Tetranychus urticae, two-spotted spider mite).
