Translated headword: having yoked in together
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning he] having attached, having fitted together. "[Aias] having yoked in together new plans to his new ways." Sophocles [says this].[1]
Greek Original:
*)egkatazeu/cas: sunqei/s, sunarmo/sas. ne/as boula\s ne/ois e)gkatazeu/cas tro/pois. *sofoklh=s.
Notes:
The headword (on which see further below) is extracted from the quotation given.
[1] Sophocles, Ajax 736 (the messenger to the chorus: web address 1), with the glossing of the scholia there. The word picked out for comment is the aorist active participle, masculine nominative singular, of a doubly compound verb e)gkatazeu/gnumi. It, and indeed the verb itself, occurs nowhere else in classical literature, but there is an instance of the aorist infinitive in one of Cyril of Alexandria's Dialogues on the Holy Trinity.
