Ἐπισχών: κρατήσας, βραδύνας. Σοφοκλῆς: σὺ δ', ὦ τὸν αἰπὺν οὐρανὸν διφρηλατῶν ἥλιε, πατρῴαν τὴν ἐμὴν ὅταν χθόνα ἴδῃς, ἐπισχὼν χρυσόνωτον ἡνίαν, ἄγγειλον ἄτας τὰς ἐμὰς μόρον τ' ἐμὸν γέροντι πατρί.
