Headword: Διηνθισμένας
Adler number: delta,1011
Translated headword: adorned with flowers, beflowered
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
From the [verb] διανθίζω ["I adorn with flowers"], [meaning] I gather flowers.
Greek Original:
Διηνθισμένας: ἐκ τοῦ διανθίζω, τοῦ τὰ ἄνθη συλλέγω.
Note:
The headword (a single word in the Greek) is the perfect middle-passive participle, feminine accusative plural, of this verb. It is taken from delta 672, and in the longer run evidently quoted from somewhere -- perhaps from its only other extant occurrence (in Gregory of Nazianzus, Orations 14, PG 35.777.2). If so it is figurative, referring to houses 'beflowered' with all kinds of stone.
