This man was a close acquaintance of Ammonius. He was an Egyptian, a grammarian, in the time of the emperor Zeno. Nicomedes heard that he knew all about Ammonius, and was eager to apprehend him; but he inferred what was to come from what had gone before, or was informed in advance, and he immediately went into hiding.
