The prison, into which they used to put rascally slaves and those freedman who revolted.[1]. Isaeus in the [speech] Against Hermon Concerning a Pledge [writes]: "he threw Hermocrates into jail, alleging he was a freedman and did not release him before he had exacted thirty drachmas."[2]
