[1] Properly, the call of the common partridge: see LSJ s.v. tittubi/zw at web address 1. This second person plural of it is attested only here, but the gloss is the same as that of the scholia to Aristophanes, Birds 235 (web address 2), where a)mfitittubi/zeq' should therefore probably be read as two words; cf. Wendel [below] p. 43. It is unclear why Adler suggests a connection with Callimachus.
