According to LSJ s.v. kwxeu/w, the transmitted headword kwxeu/ei is an incorrect reading for o)kwxeu/ei "holds" in Sophocles fr.327. ps.-Herodian and Hesychius kappa4904 gloss it as metewri/zei, fe/rei, koufi/zei "lifts up, carries, makes light". Hesychius kappa4905 quotes the Sophoclean fragment (from his Kamikioi), with the plural kwxeu/ousin glossed o)xou=si, metewri/zousi "they transport, they lift up" (gloss also in the Etymologicum Gudianum). Hesychius also has o)kwxeu/ein glossed with e)/xein, sune/xein "to have, to hold".
