[1] Headword and gloss are from the Synagoge (Lexica Segueriana eta248.23). Also in Photius, Lexicon eta31 Theodoridis. Perhaps the origin is a scholion to Plato, Republic 547B where this term, very rare in all periods, occurs (in the accusative case).
[2] (a)ge/ta is the Doric form of the vocative of h)ge/ths.) Quoted from Greek Anthology 6.167.2, but corrupting the original text, which is: w) dissa=s a)ge/ta qhrosu/nas; 'o guide of the double chase'. It is an invocation to an unidentified god, who loves both hunting and fishing, made by Kleonikos, who is both hunter and fisherman.
