Adler number: delta,1375
Translated headword: (they) credited with being, (they) having the character
Vetting Status: high
[no gloss]
Greek Original:
In ms M only, Adler reports.
The unglossed headword is apparently the present participle, masculine nominative plural, of the verb doco/omai (found only in the passive in classical writers: see LSJ s.v. at web address 1), though Etymologicum Gudianum s.v. docou/menoi polemically insists that it stems from doce/w.
In any event, Adler identifies its source here as John of Damascus, Iambic Canons 1.124.
See also ps.-Zonaras s.v. docou/menoi (with the gloss doca/zontes, "supposing") and Verba in Scripturis de Christo s.v. docou/menoi (with the gloss kaqoptrizo/menoi, "mirroring").
