Vetting Status: high

[Meaning he/she/it] moves, shakes, twitches.[1]
"And at this the barbarian collected his spirit and ceased his shaking with fear."[2]
Notes:
[1] Same or similar glosses in other lexica (references at Photius pi105 Theodoridis), and in a scholion on Homer, Iliad 5.304 (where πάλλε occurs); cf. generally pi 115. The headword is evidently quoted from somewhere -- perhaps Aristophanes, Acharnians 965 (where Lamachus does this with his helmet).
[2] Quotation (transmitted, according to Adler, via the Excerpta Constantini Porphyrogeniti) unidentifiable; again at sigma 1486.
Keywords: biography; clothing; comedy; definition; epic; ethics; historiography; history; military affairs
