Headword: *pukasmo/s
Adler number: pi,3148
Translated headword: covering
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] shagginess.
Greek Original:
*pukasmo/s: dasu/ths.
Notes:
= Synagoge pi792, Photius pi1529 Theodoridis. Something of the original context can be glimpsed at Hesychius pi4322, where the same headword is glossed as dasu/ths gennh/matos ('shagginess of offspring').
The headword, in the paradigmatic nominative singular, is unattested as such outside lexicography (and is lacking in LSJ). There are three instances of the genitive singular in Gregory of Nyssa (PG 46.132, twice; 1129.10), but seemingly in a different sense.
