Scripture calls idols [this].[1]
Also [sc. attested is] I took offense, [meaning] I was displeased, I was appalled.[2]
Greek Original:
Προσοχθίσματα: ἡ Γραφὴ καλεῖ τὰ εἴδωλα. καὶ Προσώχθισα, δυσηρεστήθην, ἐβδελυξάμην.
[1] cf. Theodoret PG 80.745 in reference to 2 Kings 23:24 LXX (whence George the Monk, Chronicon 206.11-13). See also mu 547. The headword is neuter plural nominative or accusative of the noun προσόχθισμα (derived from the verb προσοχθίζω , on which see n. 2 below).
[2] Different glossing at Hesychius pi3965, Synagoge pi725, and Photius, Lexicon pi1394 Theodoridis. This supplementary lemma is aorist indicative active, first person singular, of the verb προσοχθίζω (see also pi 2767, pi 2776, pi 2777), from which the primary headword is derived. Probably from commentary on Psalm 94:10 LXX (so Theodoridis, and already Adler, specifying Theodoret), quoted in Hebrews 3:10, but see also e.g. Leviticus 26:44 LXX, Ecclesiastes 25:2 LXX.
