The only known city with a name in this exact form was a minor (and unlocated) one near Doliche in northern Greece. However, if this headword is actually a feminine adjective (with a noun such as 'territory' implicit, it might relate to Petra (see pi 1404); alternatively, it is the adjective regularly used in Ptolemy's Geography when he is writing of Arabia Petraea.
