Headword: *periauqadi/zetai
Adler number: pi,1073
Translated headword: is exceedingly willful
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] he is engaged in arrogance; or he thinks great things about himself.[1]
Greek Original:
*periauqadi/zetai: e)n u(perhfani/a| a)nastre/fetai: h)\ me/ga fronei= peri\ e(autou=.
Notes:
The headword -- unattested outside lexicography (cf. next note) but evidently quoted from somewhere -- is the present indicative, third person singular, of the middle-voice verb periauqadi/zomai, I am exceedingly willful; see generally LSJ s.v.
[1] The headword is identically glossed in the Synagoge and in Photius' Lexicon (pi639 Theodoridis) and similarly glossed already in Hesychius (pi1577). The second glossing phrase appears again at pi 1074 (gloss). Lexica Segueriana 337.14 provides similar glosses, but for an alternative spelling of the lemma, periauqadia/zetai.
