Adler number: omicron,630
Translated headword: mountain-wandering
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning someone/something] going around into mountains.
Greek Original:
*)orofoitw=nta: ei)s o)/rh perierxo/menon.
Notes:
Same entry in other lexica; references at Photius omicron521 Theodoridis. The headword o)rofoitw=nta, evidently quoted from somewhere, is present participle of a verb o)rofoita/w. In the Septuagint (4 Maccabees 14.15) the neuter accusative plural o)rofoitou=nta or o)rofoitw=nta is used of birds, but the present gloss construes the entry as masculine accusative singular. (Latte and Theodoridis, who cite the Septuagint passage, make no comment.)
cf. generally omicron 553.
Keywords: definition; dialects, grammar, and etymology; religion; zoology
