Adler number: omicron,1015
Translated headword: to have incurred a fine [at law]
Vetting Status: high

[Meaning] to have become liable for a debt.[1]
Greek Original:
*)oflh=sai: xrewsth=sai.
Notes:
The headword, evidently extracted from somewhere, is the aorist active infinitive corresponding to the verb o)fliska/nw (I owe, am liable to pay, incur a fine); see LSJ s.v. and Mastronarde, p. 140. The Suda provides further relevant verb forms at omicron 1013, omicron 1016, omicron 1018 (end), omicron 1019, omega 279, and pi 977. There are cognate substantives at omicron 1014 and omicron 1017; cf. Hesychius s.v. o)flh/masi. Also see ps.-Zonaras 1490, s.v. o)/feles (you ought to). Adler cites Lexicon Ambrosianum 677 too.
[1] The gloss is the same grammatical form as the headword, but from the verb xrewste/w, I am liable for a debt; see LSJ s.v. and cf. generally chi 463, chi 464, and omicron 999.
