*metapoi/nion: th\n di/khn, th\n e)/foron tw=n o(/lwn, metapoi/nion.
The headword adjective is presumably extracted from the quotation.
The quotation itself, consisting of a string of appositional accusative phrases in a dactylo-epitritic meter, must be a fragment of a longer statement, probably from choral poetry -- cf.
pi 3092 where the abridged gnomic statement (in the nominative)
di/kh metapoi/nios occurs. The source of the quotation is unidentifiable. (Adler attributed it to
Aelian, but on no discernible basis.) Apart from these two entries the word is unattested elsewhere.
