Headword: *katisxnoi=
Adler number: kappa,1079
Translated headword: causes to waste away
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning he/she/it] makes [something/someone] thin.
Greek Original:
*katisxnoi=: kataleptu/nei.
Notes:
The headword is third person singular, present indicative active, of katisxno/w. It is perhaps quoted from its only other attested occurrence, in John Chrysostom (PG 6.560): kai\ leptu/nei kai\ katisxnoi=.
Other lexica have the present infinitive, correspondingly glossed; see the references at Photius kappa478, where Theodorodis regards it as quoted from Cyril of Alexandria.
The middle katisxno/omai is more common (LSJ s.v.); cf. kappa 1078.
