Headword: *die/lipen
Adler number: delta,914
Translated headword: ceased
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning he/she/it] abandoned.
Greek Original:
*die/lipen: a)fh=ken.
Notes:
Same entry, according to Adler, in the Ambrosian Lexicon. The headword is the third person singular, aorist indicative active, of dialei/pw (cf. delta 632, delta 633). It must be quoted from somewhere -- perhaps (though there are many other possibilities) the New Testament: Luke 7.45, where the woman who tended to Christ's feet 'did not cease' kissing them.
See in any event LSJ s.v. dialei/pw II.2 for the common phenomenon of this verb with a negative.
