Translated headword: Aigle's Graces
Vetting Status: high
They [i.e. genealogists] plausibly traced the lineage of the Graces; for Helios is also Aigle's, since he seems [to make] the Graces be bright.

Similar but more precise entry in Photius (and elsewhere): "... the lineage of the Graces from Aigle and Helios...". Theodoridis notes there that the ultimate source is Pausanias 9.35.5, citing 'Antimachus' (alpha 2681, presumably).
For the Graces, usually three in number, cf. chi 123, and generally OCD(4) s.v. 'Charites' (p.306). One of them is Aglaia, 'Radiance', which is also the sense of Aigle -- referring especially to the light of the sun (or moon); cf. under alphaiota 64. It would appear that the genealogists mentioned here have not merely personified Aigle but made her the mother of the Graces.
