On Sicilian Etna (Aetna), the highest active volcano in Europe, cf. already alphaiota 373; further alphaiota 375 and alphaiota 376; and see generally OCD(4) pp.30-31.
[1] So the transmitted text, as punctuated by Adler, i.e. present participle, masculine/neuter genitive singular, of a verb ai)tni/zw. But it seems preferable to follow Reizenstein and now Theodoridis, on Photius s.v., and read a)tmi/zontos as part of the preceding phrase ("coming out ... and smoking").
