Of Byzantium, a grammarian, son of Apelles a troop-commander, student of Kallimakhos[1] and of Zenodotos,[2] the former as a young man, the latter as a boy; and in addition to these [he also studied under] Dionysios Iambos[3] and Euphronidas of Korinth or Sikyon.[4] He flourished in the 144th Olympiad.[5]
