Of Colophon,[1] son of Hyparchus; grammarian and poet. Some have listed him as a servant of the poet Panyas[s]is,[2] but altogether mistakenly: he was his pupil, and also [a pupil] of Stesimbrotus. He lived before Plato.

Ἀντίμαχος, Κολοφώνιος, υἱὸς Ὑπάρχου, γραμματικὸς καὶ ποιητής. τινὲς δὲ καὶ οἰκέτην αὐτὸν ἀνέγραψαν Πανυάσιδος τοῦ ποιητοῦ, πάνυ ψευσάμενοι. ἦν γὰρ αὐτοῦ ἀκουστὴς καὶ Στησιμβρότου. γέγονε δὲ πρὸ Πλάτωνος.
