Notes:
cf. generally alpha 1517.
[1] The headword is accusative plural; it is presumably extracted from the quotations given (though it also occurs in Xenophon, Hellenica 5.3.1). For the glossing cf. Hesychius alpha3498, glossing nominative singular a)mbato/s with a)na/batos and prosbato/s; Latte ad loc. considers that entry prompted by Homer, Iliad 6.434.
[2] Attributed to Arrian's Parthica by the editor of Arrian, A.G. Roos (Studia Arrianea [Leipzig 1912] 15 n.61). The identification is supported by Favuzzi (below) 54-55, on the strength of six parallels in Arrian; and in Favuzzi's view it is incomprehensible why Roos did not include this as a fragment in his 1928 edition. See further, next note.
[3] Quotation not identified by Adler -- but Favuzzi reasonably suggests that it too is from Arrian; cf. mh\ a)posei/esqai tou\s a)mba/tas in Indica 13.12.
