Headword: Ἀλισγηθέν
Adler number: alpha,1246
Translated headword: polluted
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning something] entertained[1] or hated or harmed.
Also [sc. attested is] ἀλισγηθείς , [meaning] one who/which was stained.
Greek Original:
Ἀλισγηθέν: ἑστιαθὲν ἢ μισηθὲν ἢ λυπηθέν. καὶ Ἀλισγηθείς, σπιλωθείς.
Notes:
Aorist passive participles, neuter and masculine nominative singular, of ἀλισγέω (both of them quoted from somewhere, evidently, but neither of them independently attested); cf. eta 245, eta 246. The first paragraph of the entry is also in other lexica; references at Photius alpha964 Theodoridis.
[1] So the transmitted text, here and elsewhere. It is not immediately intelligible, but cf. Hesychius alpha3041, where ἀλισγηθῃ̂ (from Daniel 1.8 LXX) is glossed with συνεστιαθῃ̂ .
