Translation:
Among Romans [this means] "arrogant." Tarquinius Superbus was so called, the seventh and last king of the Romans, who altered his whole rule towards greater severity and made the government harsher, inasmuch as he had attained the hegemony by means of such deeds. He changed the laws and proposed magistrates contrary to custom and through them mistreated the people, employing bonds and scourges, wooden and iron stocks, fetters, chains, mines, exiles. [He was] suspicious and boastful; for this reason he acquired this sobriquet.[1]
So that is the term for one who is boastful and wishes to be super others: for super means "above."[2]
