Notes:
[1] Likewise or similarly in other lexica; references at
Photius sigma250 Theodoridis. Headword and primary gloss are in the genitive case. The headword is perhaps generated by what is to follow (for which cf. generally
sigma 502), but the other lexica do not have that material, and Theodoridis takes
si/tou to be quoted from
Homer,
Odyssey 14.456; cf. Apollonius'
Homeric Lexicon.
[2] This aims to translate the phrase transmitted, at
Photius sigma242 Theodoridis and again here:
a)podikei=n poihsame/nh. But the infinitive
a)podikei=n is obelized by Theodoridis, and both he and Adler before him mention the proposal of Salmasius (Claude de Saumaise, 1588-1653) to emend it to the noun
a)po/leiyin "desertion".
