'From a hymn' (ex hymno aliquo), Adler asserts, probably rightly. Even though the phrase has no exact parallel elsewhere, it is surely connected with the three youths in the burning fiery furnace (see beta 11, pi 3195, pi 3223). The outline narrative in the Book of Daniel was much expanded in the Christian era, and in this material reference is routinely made to the miraculous preservation of the trio by dew or dew-like moisture.
