Translation: A particular official position in
Athens has this name. This man is one of the nine archons. Amongst the duties of this man is the introduction of lawsuits, those for neglect of a patron [sc. by a freedman], and [sc. a metic] having no patron,[1] and cases of estates and heiresses where metics are involved; and whatever else the archon does for citizens, the polemarch does for metics. There is also a proper name [Polemarchos], the brother of
Lysias.[2]
