Of Emesa.[1] Rhetor. Lived under the emperor Severus in Rome. In Athens he was a rival teacher to the first Philostratus[2] and to Apsines of Gadara.[3] He died in Athens, aged about 60. He made Longinus the critic,[4] son of his sister Frontonis, his heir. He wrote numerous speeches.
