Athenian, ancient comic poet.[1] And another Menander, Athenian, the son of Diopeithes and Hegestrate;[2] concerning whom much has been widely reported; comic poet of the new comedy, squinty in the eyes but sharp in mind, and absolutely crazy about women. He has written 108 comedies[3] and letters to Ptolemy the king,[4] and numerous other stories in prose.
