A [sc. kind of] wild beast. [So called] from having a large neck [laimos], [i.e.] laimia and lamia. Aristophanes [writes]: "he had the smell of a seal, and lamia's unwashed testicles." For the testicles [are] active. He is creating an image of lamia's testicles; for [the creature is] female.[1] Also [sc. attested is] Lamos, a city of [the] Laestrygonians.[2]
