Headword: Koinônikon
Adler number: kappa,2562
Translated headword: jointly-held
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
Demosthenes in the [speech] On the Symmories speaks of joint-holders perhaps in reference to brothers holding an undistributed property; their father was able to perform liturgies, but the heirs to his property could not manage a trierarchy individually. But perhaps it can also be a term applied to voluntary partnerships in merchant-shipping or something else, where each man did not have the whole value of the common property.
Greek Original:

Note:
The passage in question is Demosthenes 14.16 (web address 1; the word there, and still in Harpokration s.v., is koinwnikw=n, genitive plural, masculine; here in the Suda a final vowel shift has turned it into koinwniko/n, nominative or accusative singular, neuter.)
